daughter and the rest of the neighborhood kiddos had to switch to the new school last year. They did not take any new hires last year and I was really hoping to transfer this

right? Who wouldn’t want that?
disappointed. Even when you have been
teaching for 16 years, you can still get personal disappointments in your career. But as I was driving to work the other
morning, feeling totally sorry for myself. And I need to add that I was feeling pitifully sorry for myself {I want you to have a clear picture :))}! The kind of sorry for yourself, where all you
want to do is sit down and squall like a big baby – you know what I am talking
about right? At least I hope I am not
the only one that has this occasional emotional moment. It was at this exact moment of feeling pitifully sorry for myself, The Rolling Stones song “You Can’t Always Get
What You Want” came on the radio. I am
convinced the good Lord above was telling me something at that exact moment. I know what your thinking … really, it was a Rolling Stones song. But let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good Rolling Stones song every once in a while. As I was driving it really started to make me think, “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try

you want”, but why is it so hard for an adult to hear the exact same words. Disappointment is hard to take at any age. I am writing this for any of my readers who
have had something they really wanted , but it didn’t pan out the way you wanted or expected. Disappointments happen to everyone and at every age. It is a part of life. So, I decided instead of feeling pitifully sorry for myself, I am going to
dust myself off, pull on my big girl britches, and be happy with what I have.
Because guess what? It is exactly what I NEED. If the other transfer ever does come my way, then it will be what I NEED at that time.
Remember Mick Jagger said it best, “You can’t always get what you want,
but if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need”!
