Students will have fun completing Christmas STEM challenges throughout the month of December.  Everything is included in the STEM challenge resource to help you set up and implement the activities within your classroom.  Easy to follow directions and guides for the teacher and STEM challenge recording sheets and graphs for the students.

Description

A Christmas STEM challenge pack that has everything you need to implement a fun STEM challenge each week in the month of December. Incorporate STEM with a twist of Christmas fun all while getting your Science standards taught.

STEM challenges work best with groups and encourages design and construction, while working through the engineering process.

Included in this STEM activity resource:  complete directions, lab sheets, graphs, constraint cards, and even pictures to help you get started to include a fun filled STEM lesson in your classroom.  Most of the supplies are very inexpensive and are things that can be found easily around the house. The STEM challenges are as follows:

● Christmas Tree – Groups will design and construct a the tallest freestanding Christmas tree.

● Flying Reindeer – Groups will design and construct a reindeer that can zip down a zip line in the quickest amount of time.

● Snowball Shooter – Groups will design and construct a slingshot that can shoot “snowballs” the farthest distance.

● Santa’s Sleigh – Groups will design and construct a new sleigh for Santa that can hold the most amount of weight.

Every challenge includes:

● Teacher Guides with complete step by step instructions

● STEM recording sheets and graphs for each challenge

● Constraint Cards to be used in groups

● Material Cards for each challenge

So what is this you might ask? It is my last minute version of a craft for Ground Hog’s Day. I can’t be the only one who decides the day of to do a craft and wing it, right? One of my most favorite boards in my classroom is this 👇🏻 bulletin board right here! This is how it looks at the beginning of each year. As the year progresses I hang student art work and writings up. At the end of the year I take the work off and it is in order, neat and tidy, and students now have a portfolio of their best 2nd grade work. The bright folders I use to match my classroom theme are cut in half and the sign is just typed up in PowerPoint.
