Budding Blogger Linky Party

I am linking up with I {heart} recess.  She is show casing new bloggers.  I am so  excited about this this link.  This summer I started blogging and found some really great blogs to start following and had several people start following me.  However, since school has started it hasn’t picked up as much.  I get though it is hard to keep up with it all sometimes.  I also think when your a newbie it is hard to get your name blog out there!  I hope I find more awesome blogs to follow and I hope someone finds me interesting enough to follow me.  I love to discover new fun blogs.

When you link up there are questions that you need to answer.  I hope you enjoy reading my responses.

1. Why did I start blogging?
For the past three years I have been following a few blogs.  I keep thinking to myself that I would love to do that, but I never sat down to just do it.   Before school was out this past school year I told myself that I was going to do it this summer.  I am so glad I did!!  I have found out so many ideas and techniques that I never would have thought of doing.  That is my favorite part about blogging:  The ideas that teachers from all over come up with, it amazes me.  I can honestly say that blogging has made me a better teacher.  Not only do you get know other educators from all over the place, but you learn really neat ideas.
2.  What is your favorite subject to teach? Why?
I teach second grade so I teach all subjects.  But my favorite is Math, Science, and Social Studies.  I know these  kinda go together – right?  The reason why I love Math is because when it finally clicks with a student {you know that aha moment} I know that I have shown them a strategy that will stick with them for life.  I love to teach Science because of all the cool hands on experiment you can do. {I actually taught 6th and 7th grade science for 6 years, but that has been ages ago}.  I love social studies because I personally enjoy learning about the world around me, past and present.
3.  Describe your teaching style.
I would describe my teaching style as fun and energetic.  I love to involve movement in my teaching.  I also like a hands on approach.   Just sitting perfectly still at a desk all day sounds boring to me.  I like to engage my students.  I do some form of group work at least once a day {usually more}!!
4.  Give three interesting facts about you

1.   I am a History Channel kinda’ nerd.  I love watching the History Channel,  Discovery Channel, or National Geographic Channel.  This may be the teacher in me coming out.

 2.   I am not a real big on eating sweets.  I have to be in the mood for chocolate or sweets, which is not very often. Now carbs that is a different story!!!

 3.   I love to read children books.  I like to read them to my own kids and my class.  I get just as much enjoyment from them as the kids do.

5.  Do you have a Teachers Pay Teachers store?

Yes, I do. This is also something new I started this summer.  I recently started making units to go with the new reading series my parish has just adopted.  But what I really love to make is digital papers using my photoshop program.  I have really put some cute sets in my shop.  I have included the link if you would like to check it out.

Here are few pictures of my class!  To see more of my classroom pictures click here!

Thanks your for stopping by.  I would love for you to follow me on my new journey of blogging.  I can’t wait to hear from you.

One of my most favorite boards in my classroom is this 👇🏻 bulletin board right here! This is how it looks at the beginning of each year. As the year progresses I hang student art work and writings up. At the end of the year I take the work off and it is in order, neat and tidy, and students now have a portfolio of their best 2nd grade work. The bright folders I use to match my classroom theme are cut in half and the sign is just typed up in PowerPoint.

Here is a link to the bright file folders I used on this board (I use the extra folders to keep stuff stored in my filing cabinet): amzn.to/4mS2GhY
