Sunshine Blogger Award

My nomination came from Marcy at Searching forTeacher Balance.  Thanks Marcy so much for thinking of me when picking your
nominees.
The rules of the Sunshine Blogger Award are:

1. Post 11 random facts about yourself

2. Answer the 11 questions asked
by the blogger who nominated you

3. Nominate 11 bloggers you think bring
sunshine to the world

4. Make up 11 questions for your nominations to answer.
11 Random Facts about Me:
1.  I think my faith and family are the most important things in the
world.
2.  I carry chapstick/lipgloss in my purse at all times but very
seldom put it on.
3.  I wear glasses, but rarely put them on.
4.  If my feet are cold then I feel like the rest of my body is
cold.  Warm feet = Warm body!
5.  I am obsessed with all things water or water activities.
My family and I spend a big part of our summer either in a pool or lake
somewhere.  And our summer vacation is always to the beach.
6.  That being said I always wear SPF 50, especially on my face!!!
7.  I want to visit Italy someday.
8.  I secretly would love to write a children’s book one day.
I jot ideas down all the time.  I guess the secret is out.
9.  Two of my favorite movies are Hope Floats and When a Man Loves a
Woman – both tear jerkers {which I am a sucker for}.
10.  My favorite food is Mexican food.
11.  I am a loyal friend to the end.
11 Questions Asked by Marcy:
1. If you could be any storybook character who would you be?
I
would be Fancy Nancy.  I love all things Fancy, but sometimes it just
doesn’t turn out the way you expected it too.

2. What is your go-to teaching tool?
I really love my smart board.  I love all the things that
I can do with it.   I also like my small group table.  I know that
may be an odd thing to put.  But when we meet at the small group table I
like how things become really personable and more one on one.

3. What is your ultimate vacation spot (real or dream)?
A
beach hut in the Fiji Islands (dream).  We visit the beach in Floridia
every summer which is heaven to us.  But to visit Fiji would be the
ultimate.

4. What is the last movie you watched?
The
hubs and I had a date night recently and went saw the movie Lone Survivor.
It was a really awesome movie.

5. What is your favorite season?
summer

6. What is your favorite part of summer
break?
Getting
to spend time on the water with my family.  My parents live on the lake.
So almost every weekend my entire family meets up over there to ride
the boat and ski, tube, jet ski and we always cookout.  It is always
my favorite thing to do in the summer.

7. What is your favorite subject to teach?
Math
is my favorite subject to teach.

8. Who or what helps bring
“sunshine” to your day?
A hug
and a kiss from my own two kiddos.

9.  How did you know that teaching
was the career for you?
I
always loved being around children.  Even when I was younger I would play
school.  I would line up my stuff animals or make my brother play.
Of course I was always the teacher.

10. If you could have any superpower what
would it be?
To
know what others are think – especially my students.  Sometimes I wish I
could just pick into their minds and guess what they are thinking.

11. What is your most memorable teaching
moment?
When a student I taught in middle school sent me a collage graduation
invitation.  Inside the invitation was a two page handwritten note on how
much I meant to her as a teacher. I really teared up when I read the note.
I still have the note to this day.

Jamie- I've missed you. Thank you so much for passing along the sunshine award. I promise to be a better blogger soon. I've been so busy taking photos after school that I barely have time to read blogs. Loved reading your facts.I love Mexican food too. We have the best one that just reopened after being closed for the season. The chips are so thin they melt in your mouth.

One of my most favorite boards in my classroom is this 👇🏻 bulletin board right here! This is how it looks at the beginning of each year. As the year progresses I hang student art work and writings up. At the end of the year I take the work off and it is in order, neat and tidy, and students now have a portfolio of their best 2nd grade work. The bright folders I use to match my classroom theme are cut in half and the sign is just typed up in PowerPoint.

Here is a link to the bright file folders I used on this board (I use the extra folders to keep stuff stored in my filing cabinet): amzn.to/4mS2GhY
